Tools for Scientific Blogging

Social media is changing the way science and research is communicated.  However, many times scientist lack the resources to rapidly create figures or stunning infographics by themselves.

To examine if Sketchfab, recently approved by Facebook and Twitter for interactive 3D content, can be used for scientific blogging, we have converted a number of cryoEM (EMDatabank) and x-ray diffraction (RCSB)  structures into Sketchfab format.  In addition to posting the interactive structure directly to social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, etc), one can easily annotate and produce virtual tours.

These new tools will hopefully help scientist rapidly share their knowledge directly via social media.  If you have any questions regarding getting your data into Sketchfab or how to share the embed codes, please feel free to contact us!
